Johnstown shares school district RE-5J with its close neighbor Milliken, where there are two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. The student to teacher ratio in School District RE-5J is 15:1 and the average ACT score is 21.3. There are several higher education options in Northern Colorado including the University of Northern Colorado, Aims Community College in Greeley and Colorado State University and Front Range Community College in Fort Collins.

RECREATION

Johnstown’s park system includes a total of seven public parks. Younger residents can participate in a variety of recreational opportunities such as Little League football and youth league basketball and baseball. Residents of the Johnstown/Milliken area, like the rest of the region, enjoy endless outdoor activities offered by living in close proximity to the Rockies.

Banner Health’s North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley and McKee Medical Center in Loveland offer a full spectrum of primary health care and University of Colorado Health’s Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland and Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins are well-respected facilities for residents of Northern Colorado.

EMPLOYMENT

Johnstown and neighboring Milliken are surrounded by abundant farmland, which provides the area’s largest source of income. Some of the larger employers in the Johnstown/Milliken area include Hall-Irwin, a full-service construction management firm, and Uniscope, a company that specializes in the production of specialty agricultural products. Given the low housing prices and friendly setting, many settle here but commute to the larger surrounding communities such as Greeley, Loveland, Fort Collins or Denver for work.
